Direct Support Professional
loyment lead will manage the employment services department and provide managerial oversight to support individuals with disabilities in achieving their employment goals. This role includes direct service provision, business engagement, and team leadership, ensuring high-quality employment outcomes through individualized support and community partnerships.
DSPs roles are to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in increasing their independence at home and in community settings.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks.
Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served.
Ensures client safety and maintains a safe environment.
Reminds and assists clients with self-administration of medications (with proper training).
Encourages self-help activities.
Reports changes in client’s condition or family situation to administrators and supervisors.
Documents services provided.
Performs home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning.
Plans meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up.
Assists with toileting, including bedpans, urinals, and commode chairs as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Have a valid driver's license, reliable car to drive and proof of insurance or knowledge in navigating the TriMET system.
Pass a background check
Within 90 days of hire, obtain First Aid & CPR certification.
Own a smartphone
Complete mandatory abuse training
Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively with all team members.
Ability to complete and submit monthly paperwork in a timely manner.
Ability to work in community and in-home settings
Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time

Job Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to employment services staff, including training, development, and oversight to ensure departmental goals are met.
Job Development: Build and maintain relationships with local businesses to develop employment opportunities that match the unique needs and skills of clients.
Job Coaching: Provide one-on-one job coaching to clients to ensure successful employment outcomes, assisting with on-the-job training and problem-solving.
Vocational Rehabilitation (VR): Complete and submit necessary documentation, including applications and progress reports, to state VR agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations and timelines.
Discovery Profiles: Conduct in-depth discovery assessments to identify each client's strengths, interests, skills, and employment goals
Client Engagement: Assist clients through the entire vocational exploration and development process, providing guidance and support to ensure access to vocational services, funding and opportunities.
Business Relationships: Develop strong, ongoing relationships with local businesses to promote inclusive hiring practices and create employment partnerships.
Performance Tracking: Monitor the progress of clients in employment programs, ensuring that goals are achieved and adjustments are made as necessary.
Advocacy: Advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families in the local community and throughout the state.
Agency Collaboration: Work closely with other agency leadership to inform, assess, and address issues that affect the organization.
Regulatory Compliance: Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as funder requirements.
Attendant Care Services: Occasionally provide direct attendant care services to potential clients to form holistic relationships and better understand their individual needs and strengths.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years’ experience in I/DD, MH, Rehab, Social services or related field
Have a valid driver's license, reliable car to drive and proof of insurance
